DMJ 153 - Podcast Performance

In this class, students will learn what it takes to become effective spoken word communicators and storytellers. In the opening weeks of the semester, students will share their podcast listening/viewing habits, what draws them to particular podcasts, and share their ideas on what would make for an engaging podcast (as they look to produce their own podcasts). Students will then be put into groups of three or four, based on their interests, and will be given the opportunity to talk about what they are passionate about, in a podcast setting. Each group will have the freedom to discuss a topic of choice within the framework and structure that will be provided. Each group’s theme will remain consistent from show to show. The course will stress the importance of respecting the audio production process and living up to the demands of a production schedule.
