DPT 625 - Integrated Experience I

This course is designed to provide physical therapy students with practical application of principles and techniques learned during the academic portion of the semester and a greater appreciation for the field of physical therapy. Students will participate in a weekly half-day observation at a selected acute, subacute, or outpatient orthopedic site in the Greater Hartford community, including University Physical Therapy, LLC. Students will work in small groups with a faculty or clinical mentor. Contact with clients and patients will help students to develop their basic clinical communication, examination, evaluation, diagnostic, and intervention skills. Students are expected to demonstrate professional behaviors in all interactions with patients, clients, families, caregivers, and other health professionals.
Prerequisite(s): DPT 530 and PT major.
