Psychology Minor

A minor in psychology is often chosen by students to complement training in the health or natural sciences and the professional schools of art, business, education, engineering, and music. Minors must be formally declared through the dean’s office.

Minor GPA and Grade Requirements


Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.25 in courses required to complete the minor. All courses required for the minor must be taken for a letter grade.

Select one course from three of the following five domains.

Electives (6 credits)


Take an additional six credits of psychology coursework. Courses may be completed from any of the Five Domains above or the courses below.

Only one experientially based course (PSY 384 , PSY 385 , PSY 484 , PSY 485 ) can be applied toward the major, although additional courses from this grouping can be counted as general electives toward graduation requirements.

Additional Information:


Transfer students must take a minimum of 6 credits above PSY 105  in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hartford.

Minors must complete at least one PSY course at the 300-level or above.

PSY 132 , PSY 245 , PSY 331 , PSY 332 , and PSY 333W  will not fulfill a requirement for the psychology minor.

Only one of the experientially-based courses may be applied toward the minor. These include Student Internship (PSY 384 , PSY 385 , PSY 484 , PSY 485 ) and Independent Study (PSY 489 ).

All courses taken by declared minors to satisfy the minor requirements must be taken for a letter grade and may not be taken on a Pass/No Pass basis, except Student Internship (PSY 384 , PSY 385 , PSY 484 , PSY 485 ).
