The minor in Music History is open to all Hartt students who wish to broaden their experience in this subject.

Admission Process

Secure approval, through an interview, from the music history department chair.
Fill out and process the University Change of Major form to add the minor. This form requires the signature of the student’s advisor, music history chair and Academic Studies division director.

HLM 213 - Classicism to the Present 3 credit(s)
HLM 316 - Medieval through Baroque 3 credit(s)
HLM 464 and/or HLM 465 (.5 credits of Music History Forum required)

Electives (9 credits):

AFR 131 - African American Music, 1890–1945 3 credit(s)
AFR 132 - African American Music, 1945 to the Present 3 credit(s)
ART 210W - History of Western Art I 3 credit(s)
ART 211W - History of Western Art II 3 credit(s)
Any HIS 200, 300, or 400 level courses.
Any HLM 200, 300, or 400 level courses.
