Architectural Design + Technology, B.S. (Construction Management Concentration)

Program Information

Department Chair and UG Program Director: Fuller

The pre-professional Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Design + Technology is a rigorous academic program that prepares students for a variety of professional careers in architecture and the construction industry. The focus of the program is the design studio in which the technical, structural, and liberal arts courses are integrated through the creative process in the design of progressively more complex architectural projects.  A strong component of general education, with particular emphasis on communication skills, as well as multiple electives in the later years, ensures that students who pursue this program of study will have a challenging architectural education and a broad understanding of the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue advanced degrees in architecture and related disciplines or entry into architecture or the building industries.  While the career objectives of graduates vary greatly depending on their concentration of electives, all involve interaction with other professions in design and construction.

The Bachelor of Science program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ETAC/ABET), www.abet.org. The Master of Architecture program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), 1735 New York Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20006; www.naab.org.

Some students may have career goals that focus on construction. For this reason, the department of  Architecture offers both a standard program with a design focus and an optimal concentration in construction management.
