General Education Requirements (Art History)

Students in the Art History program are required to fulfill the general education requirements described below.

University Interdisciplinary Studies (UIS) (13 credits)


Students must take a course in each of the following areas:

Cultural and Historical Interpretation (UISC)
Social Context and Change (UISS)
Natural, Scientific, and Technology (UIST)

Mathematics (3 credits)


Students must demonstrate basic college-level mathematics skills by successfully completing any mathematics course (except M 118  and M 119 ) taught by the A&S mathematics department.

Humanities and Arts (12 credits)


Social Science (3 credits)


  • one course from the following list: economics, politics, psychology, sociology.

Laboratory Science (4 credits)


  • One 4-credit laboratory course from the following list: biology, chemistry, physics.

Writing (6 credits)
