Electronic Music Composition Minor


The undergraduate minor in Electronic Music Composition is open to all Hartt B.Mus. students, including Hartt Composition majors, who want to deepen their musical creative experience and enhance their knowledge of creative music technologies, and electronic/electroacoustic compositional techniques and aesthetics. To complete this minor, the student must register for a letter grade in all courses counting toward the minor. Students must receive a grade of B- or higher in all courses, with the allowance of no lower than one C in a single course.

Admissions process

  1. The student must successfully complete an interview with the chair of the composition department, or a designated faculty member.
  2. The student must then fill out and process the University change of major form. This form requires the signatures of the student’s major advisor, the Composition department chair, and the Academic and Contemporary Studies Division co-director.

Additional Information


Relevant Special Topics courses that may be offered from time to time may also be attractive
options within this minor. May be taken with approval of instructor and advisor.

For composition majors, no more than 6 credits used for the Composition, B.Mus.  degree may
be counted toward the minor.
