The MBA degree program is designed to provide a broad exposure to the knowledge, skills, and values needed by successful managers. Candidates for the degree typically include those pursuing a management career, as well as those at mid-career and those contemplating a change from a technical or specialized field into a general management role. Classes are seven weeks in length that allow a concentrated focus on the subject. In addition, courses may be taken online or onsite, depending on what may be happening in one’s busy life. 12 Course MBA: Our 12 course AACSB Accredited MBA can be completed in two years on a part-time basis, or less, depending on one’s desire to finish sooner. The program consists of nine required courses and three electives. Elective courses may be used to complete a concentration, or to experience different course topics. Six credits can be transferred into this program. We offer convenient rolling admissions each semester. Concentrations: The three electives may be focused within one concentration listed below or combined from a variety. Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurial Studies, Finance, Healthcare Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Project Management, Risk Management and Insurance, and Supply Chain Management. Prior to entering the program, students are expected to have a working knowledge of computers and be able to use word processing software and spreadsheets. Free, self-paced educational modules in statistics, accounting and economics are available to admitted students. International students are expected to demonstrate English-language proficiency. The core of the MBA program is designed for students without prior business education and covers principles and concepts in the basic functional areas of business. The capstone integrates functional approaches and environment issues by having students make strategic business decisions. The MBA curriculum is always under review for continuous improvement. To receive the degree, students must complete all program requirements and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Required Courses (Nine, 3-credit courses)
Electives and Concentrations (Three, 3-credit courses)
Elective plans of study should be developed in consultation with your academic advisor. Students may elect a broad general orientation or concentrations of specific courses in one area of specialization. Accounting: Students can earn an Accounting concentration by completing three from the following list of courses: AC 560 - Taxation of Business Organizations , AC 625 - Financial Reporting Standards and Practices I , AC 626 - Financial Reporting Standards and Practices II , AC 627 - Individual Income Tax , AC 628 - Auditing Standards and Practices , AC 715 - Financial Reporting and Analysis , AC 720 - Advanced Auditing AC 725 - Ethics for Accounting Professionals , AC 748 - Seminar in Managerial Accounting Control Systems , AC 776 - Advanced Corporate Taxation , AC 783 - Research in Taxation . . Business Analytics: Students can earn a Business Analytics concentration by completing QNT 601 and three of the following eight courses: QNT 705 - Applications in Business Analytics , QNT 712 - Introduction to Business Analytics , QNT 720 - Business Forecasting , QNT 730 - Business Data Mining , QNT 735 - Predictive Modeling , QNT 745 - Data Visualization , QNT 750 - Strategic Business Analytics , QNT 760 /MKT 760 - Marketing Analytics Entrepreneurial Studies: Students can earn an Entrepreneurial Studies concentration by completing the following three courses: MGT 750 / MKT 751 - Bargaining and Negotiations , MGT 770 / MKT 770 - Organizational Consulting , and MGT 771 / MKT 771 - Entrepreneurship . The Barney School offers one course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. Finance: Students can earn a Finance concentration by completing any three finance courses, excluding FIN 604 . Healthcare Management: Students can earn a Healthcare Management concentration by completing the following three courses: EC 726 - Healthcare Economics and Analytics , INS 726 - Healthcare Insurance and Financing , and MGT 726 - Health Systems Management . The Barney School offers one course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. International Business: Students can earn an International Business concentration by completing the following three courses: IB 705 - The Global Business Environment , FIN 650 - International Finance , MKT 650 - International Marketing . The Barney School offers one course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. Management: Students can earn a Management concentration by completing any three MGT courses, excluding MGT 605 , MGT 607 , and MGT 609 . Marketing: Students can earn a Marketing concentration by completing any three MKT courses, excluding MKT 606 . Project Management: Students can earn a Project Management concentration by completing MGT 605 - Organizational Leadership ,* MGT 607 - Managing Organizational Processes ,* MGT 609 - Global Strategic Management ,** MGT 700 - Innovation and Project Management , and any two from the following list of courses: FIN 740 / INS 740 - Project Risk Management , ME 519 - Six Sigma Principles and Applications , MGT 701 - Managerial Skills and Agile Management , and MGT 719 - Advanced Project Management . The Barney School offers one elective course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. *The course is a prerequisite for a required course in the concentration. **MGT 609 is a capstone course required to complete all MBA concentrations. Risk Management and Insurance: Students can earn a Risk Management and Insurance concentration by completing three courses from the following list: INS 552 - Insurtech Venturing , INS 660 - Risk and Insurance , INS 665 - Risk Management , INS 726 - Healthcare Insurance and Financing , and INS 740 - Project Risk Management . The Barney School offers one course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. Supply Chain Management: Students can earn a Supply Chain Management concentration by completing MGT 760 - Supply Chain Management and any two from the following list of courses: MGT 704 - E-Commerce , MGT 750 - Bargaining and Negotiations , and EM 620 - Logistics and Supply Chain Engineering . Supply Chain courses are offered to both business and engineering students, and are taught by faculty experts from both the Barney School and the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture. The Barney School offers one course per term (Fall, Spring and Summer) to complete this concentration. Postgraduate Certificates
Students holding a graduate degree from an accredited institution may apply for a specialized certificate in Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurial Studies, Finance, Healthcare Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Project Management, Risk Management and Insurance, and Supply Chain Management. To receive these specialized certificates, students must complete three graduate courses in the same discipline as indicated.
