Dual MS Organizational Psychology/MBA Program

Students who wish to earn both the Master of Science in Organizational Psychology (MSOP) from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the Barney School of Business may apply to be admitted to the Dual MSOP/MBA degree program. Upon completion of all degree requirements, students will be awarded both the MSOP and MBA degrees. The Dual MSOP/MBA degree provides an opportunity to earn both degrees in an efficient manner. Between the two programs, the dual degree consists of 20 courses or 60 credits. 

Admission: Students must apply to each program separately and meet the admission criteria for each program. Upon admission, the student will be assigned an academic advisor from each of the programs.

Master of Science in Organizational Psychology (MSOP) Degree Requirements


The Organizational Psychology program in the Department of Psychology, College of Arts and Sciences, is a 12 course (36-credit) program: five required courses (15 credits), including either a capstone project or an internship, and seven electives (21 credits) chosen from the list of pre-approved courses. No more than 9 of those credits may be taken from the Barney School of Business. All students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 36 credit hours with a grade point average of at least 3.00 and have no more than two grades below B-.

No more than 9 pre-approved Barney School of Business credits may be applied toward the MSOP degree. The student will work with their academic advisor on selecting the appropriate elective courses.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree Requirements


The 12-Course MBA program in the Department of Business and Management, Barney School of Business, consists of 9 required courses and 3 electives. The core of the MBA program is designed for students without prior business education and covers principles and concepts in the basic functional areas of business. Elective courses may be used to complete a concentration or to explore different course topics. The capstone integrates functional approaches and environment issues by having students make strategic business decisions. To receive the degree, students must complete all program requirements and maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

MBA Electives (9 credits)


No more than 2 courses (6 credits), pre-approved, from the MSOP program may be applied toward the MBA degree. One course (3 credits) must be an MBA elective. Electives are non-required courses in both programs.

Candidates are not permitted to utilize MSM courses in the MBA program or MBA/MSOP dual program.
