Biology Minor

Minor GPA and Grade Requirements

Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in courses required to complete the minor. All courses required for the minor must be taken for a letter grade.

Requirements for the Biology Minor

Because the minor in biology requires careful advising to ensure that requirements are completed within four years, students wishing to minor in biology should apply for the minor by the end of the sophomore year. Completing the minor requires a minimum of 18 biology credits approved by the department chair. Some biology courses require chemistry classes as pre-requisites, which could add as many as 8 additional credits. The minor can be adapted to suit individual student goals, but it must include at least one 300- or 400- level biology course, and one biology course that is not required for the student’s major. One UIST course from the following list may be applied to the minor with permission of the department chair: UIST 110 , UIST 120 , UIST 130 , or UIST 140D .
