Directed at more intensive preparation in the lab sciences than the A.A. in Liberal Studies, the concentrations below prepare students to move into the fields of biology, health sciences, radiology or physical therapy. To qualify for an Associate in Science, General Sciences, which signifies completion of the program, students must complete with at least a 2.0 grade point average an academic program consisting of at least 60 credits, distributed according to field of study. Credits earned in Pass/No Pass physical education courses may not be applied toward the 60 credits needed for the A.S. degree.
The biology concentration is designed for students who want to transfer from Hillyer to the biology major at the College of Arts & Sciences. A cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required to transfer from Hillyer College to the biology major.
The health sciences concentration is designed for students who want to transfer from Hillyer to a health sciences major or the respiratory therapy major at the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions. A cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 is required to transfer from Hillyer to the health sciences and respiratory therapy majors.
The radiology concentration is designed for students who want to transfer from Hillyer to the radiologic technology major at the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions. A cumulative GPA of 2.7 is required to transfer from Hillyer to the radiologic technology major.
The physical therapy concentration is designed for students who want to transfer from Hillyer into the physical therapy program at the College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions. A cumulative GPA of 3.2 and 3.2 in science courses is required to transfer into the physical therapy program.
