The Master of Arts (MA), Major in Music degree is a rigorous program that prepares students for further graduate level study, offering curricula designed to elevate student accomplishments in their pursuit of professional excellence. Students in the program receive a broad overview of musical study with access to courses in areas including but not limited to: Instrumental or Vocal Performance, Composition, Music History, Music Theory, and Instrumental or Vocal Conducting. Because of the vast number of elective courses at the graduate level, the Master of Arts, Major in Music program will allow students to experience an array of academic and performance classes, to support their abilities and expand their creativity, without being overly prescriptive. Music majors in the MA program may take courses from a variety of disciplines that introduce students to other fields and ways of thinking. As a final project, students have the choice of completing a thesis, recital, or lecture-recital.
