Commercial Music Minor (Hartt Students)

This version of the undergraduate minor in Commercial Music is open to all Composition, Music Production Technology, or Music Management majors, who want to deepen their musical creative experience alongside further enhancement of their individual and ensemble performance abilities within this highly diverse musical genre.
To complete this minor, the student must register for a letter grade in all courses counting toward the minor. Students must receive a grade of B- or higher in all courses, with the allowance of no lower than one C in a single course.
Admissions process
- The student must successfully complete an interview with the director of the Contemporary Studies Division, or a designated faculty member.
- The student must fill out and process the University’s Change of Curriculum Form to add the minor. This form requires signatures of the student’s advisor, the Director (Chair) of the Contemporary Studies Division, and the Dean (or designee), and is returned to the Manager of Student Services in the Hartt School.

Required credits: 18
2 semesters of Commercial Music instrumental or vocal lessons (4 credits), and ensemble (2 credits), a total of 6 credits, are applied toward the minor. Students are assessed an additional fee to register for private lessons.
The remaining 12 credits are to be chosen from the following.
