Music History Minor

The minor in Music History is open to all Hartt students who wish to broaden their experience in this subject.

Admission Process

Secure approval, through an interview, from the music history department chair.
Fill out and process the University Change of Major form to add the minor. This form requires the signature of the student’s advisor, music history chair and Academic Studies division director.

Any HIS 200, 300, or 400 level courses. ¹
Any HLM 200, 300, or 400 level courses.
Any UIS course that is music-related OR any UIS course that is history/culture-related with approval of music history chair. ¹

Notes:

¹No more than one such course outside of Hartt may count toward the music history minor without approval of the music history chair.

*All music history minors are expected to attend the semesterly guest lectures of the Hartt Music History Forum, and are greatly encouraged to attend the semesterly guest lectures of the Hartt Music Theory program.
