Paralegal Studies, B.S.

To qualify for the Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies (with Paralegal Certificate), a student must attain a grade point average of at least 2.0, with a minimum of 120 credits in academic courses. At least 40 credits must be earned in the paralegal studies major and 45 credits in liberal arts courses. Each course in the paralegal studies major must be passed with a C (2.0) or better. Before any paralegal studies courses are taken, permission of the department is required, and the student must complete 12 credits of general education courses with a GPA of at least 2.0. English (RPW 110 ) and Power and Politics in America (POL 110) are required.

Group I: Humanities and Arts (12 credits):


  • AUCC—Other Cultures
  • AUCA—Arts
  • Two humanities and arts electives 

Group II: Laboratory Science/Mathematics (10–11 credits):


  • One college-level mathematics course
  • AUCT—Science and Technology
  • Science elective—must be laboratory science if AUCT course did not have lab 

Group III: Social Sciences (6 credits):


  • AUCS—Social Context
  • Social science elective

Additional Information:


Students must complete at least 30 credit hours in upper-division (300–400 level) course work. The remaining credits may be electives.

Students who enter the college with 24 or more transfer credits may substitute an appropriate elective for one or more of the AUC courses.
