NUR 471 - Medical Surgical Nursing II

This course focuses on the care of adults who are coping and adapting to acute illness. Students integrate advanced concepts of health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Nursing care for vulnerable populations affected by cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and multisystem dysfunction is explored. A component of disaster management is incorporated into this course. Legal and ethical dilemmas that influence nursing care of the acutely ill are examined. Under supervision in clinical and laboratory settings, the student will function as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide safe, competent, and prioritized care to multiple patients. A passing grade of C and Satisfactory achievement of clinical objectives must be accomplished to pass this course.
Prerequisite(s): NUR 446 .
