UISC 211D - Early Modern American Studies


3 credit(s) High Impact Practice: Diversity
This integrative course in the humanities explores early modern American society from the arrival of European colonizers to the end of Reconstruction (1607-1877). Through a variety of lenses including race, gender, politics, and/or religion, the course addresses the interactions of colonizers with indigenous populations, the social and economic development of the colonies, the evolution of religious beliefs and institutions, the origins of American politics, and the debate over slavery, among other topics. (Formerly AUCW 211)
Prerequisite(s): No prerequisites, open to first-year students.
