HTA 410 - Voice for the Actor VI

This course takes the student into an extensive study of the accents and dialects most often used on the English-speaking stage. The course begins with a review of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), introduces different option for achieving accents, introduces accent analysis systems, and culminates with a comprehensive study of the accents of the British Isles (typically Standard British, Irish, Cockney and West Country). Being offered in the final year in the Actor Training Voice for the Actor sequence, additional topics may be covered such as Voice-Over or needs that may arise from the performance curriculum.
Prerequisite(s): HTA 310 ; music theatre or actor training majors only.
