ECE 427 - Network Design & Cybersecurity

The course provides the fundamental concepts of TCP/IP computer networks. It emphasizes switch and router design & configuration including IP addressing, and sub-netting. Topics include: protocol layers, frame/packet structure, unicasting/multicasting/broadcasting, error control, segmentation, and flow control. Cybersecurity covers the threats, countermeasures, and incidence response management. Theoretical design and operational concepts as well as software simulations are included. Three lecture hours. (Students may not earn credit for both CS 355  and ECE 427.)
Prerequisite(s): ECE 231  or ECE 255  or CS 220P .
