HCID 260 - Interface Prototyping

This is a project-oriented course that focuses on the design and implementation of physical human-computer interfaces using new techniques and technologies. Embedded and networked systems will be used in conjunction with physical sensors and inputs including such components as rotary encoders, knobs, sliders, joysticks, buttons, touch plates, cameras and wave fields. Students will complete a project that aims to increase the control, expressiveness and feedback a user receives from a computational process. Some examples include a touch plate musical controller with haptic feedback or a rotatory-based video game controller.
Prerequisite(s): HCID 110  or CS 114 .
Laboratory fee.
