This course is an overview of the U.S. correctional system and covers probation and parole supervision, jail and prison environments, and various intermediate sanctions. Current critical issues in the field of corrections will be explored, including the use of solitary confinement, the rights of incarcerated people, and the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction.
