HCID 220P - Interactive Data Visualization


4 credit(s) High Impact Practice: Collaborative Learning
This course focuses on interactive visualization of qualitative and quantitative data. Particular emphasis is placed on mapping the unique properties of emerging data sources to animated or interactive environments. Topics covered include introductory data analysis involving domain, range and dimensionality. Additionally, students are exposed to a variety of publicly available data sets and learn to visually communicate through manipulation and assembly of scaled interactive environments. Discussion topics include data and visual complexity and constraints, spatio-temporal relationships and ethics.
Prerequisite(s): HCID 110  and CS 275  with a minimum grade of C (2.0 or better).
Laboratory fee.
