CH 446 - Biochemistry II

This course builds from a solid foundation of organic and general chemistry, as well as an understanding of the structure and function of biological macromolecules (including nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, as well as lipids). Topics include bioenergetics and the thermodynamic principles that form the foundations of life; evaluation of enzymes and their catalytic roles; and analysis and differentiation of the metabolic pathways for the four main classes of biological macromolecules. Emphasis is placed on the importance of regulation and integration of various metabolic pathways to sustain life.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 444 .
