GRA 355 - Junior Printmaking Studio II


3 credit(s)
A junior level course that provides intermediate level coursework in the areas of book arts and/or relief printmaking. Course content includes technical and design issues of book arts and introduces the basics of letterpress typography and printing, the integration of image and text, and systems necessary for printing editions of artist’s books. The course also provides advanced approaches to relief printing, including complex color printing, additive approaches and combinations with letterpress type. Historic printed books, broadsides and relief printing examples along with contemporary examples will be examined.
Prerequisite(s): GRA 235  or GRA 350 .
Laboratory fee.
