PHI 241D - Philosophy of Gender, Race, and Class

Course Cross-listed with AFS 241D  and GS 241D
3 credit(s) High Impact Practice: Diversity and Global Learning
We spend relatively little time thinking about how features of our identity such as race and gender come to exist. This course will consider social, biological, and performative explanations for how these features of our lives arise. We will also consider whether we are mistaken in our beliefs that these features of ourselves are real in the first place or merely illusory. Lastly, the course will consider the intersections of these three types of identity and how they are experienced.
