ENG 143 - Introduction to British Literature


3 credit(s)
This course introduces students to major authors, texts, and themes in British literature from c. 800 CE to the present. Key themes will include the evolution of “British” identity and through different linguistic and cultural influences, the key features of literature from different periods such as the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Restoration, the Victorian era, and Modernism, and the changing roles of gender, race, and sexual identities in literature and literary production.
