UISA 116 - Symmetry and Harmony

3 credit(s)
Mathematics makes order out of chaos and artists and musicians use these discoveries to create masterpieces. This course will expose liberal arts students who are “not math people” to the beauty of mathematics and its applications to art, music and nature. This will be an interactive course which explores the playful aspects of mathematics through activities, in-class labs and projects. This course is offered once a week to allow for proper exploration of the topics. Class will begin with an introductory question/exploration followed by an activity/lab, journal/reflection writing and whole-class discussion/wrap up.
