Post-Graduate MBA Certificates


The Barney School of Business offers post-graduate Certificates in Business Analytics, Finance, Insurance, International Business, Management, Marketing, Project Management and Supply Chain Management.

Certificates show mastery in a topical area and add a level of skill to your resume.

Business Analytics

Today’s technology produces huge volumes of data. Businesses everywhere are focusing on how to properly organize, evaluate and use data to solve problems and identify opportunities that give their organization a competitive advantage.  Building analytic models, creating scenarios, and predicting future states are but some of the exciting intellectual activities you are exposed to in business analytics.

Students who have a graduate business degree from an accredited institution can apply to attend the Barney School of Business to earn a specialized certificate in Business Analytics by completing the following four courses (12 credit hours):

Each of the courses utilizes SAS Institute® software and tools.

Upon completing these four courses, you will also earn a certificate in Data Mining Using SAS® jointly offered by the Barney School of Business and the SAS® Institute.

Finance

Financial skills are in demand in all industries. This certificate is essential for those who desire to acquire knowledge about how firms make financial decisions and how these decisions affect individual organizations and society as a whole. In addition to studying relevant trends and current issues, you are exposed to foundational level knowledge in the world of finance.

Students who have a graduate business degree from an accredited institution can apply to attend the Barney School of Business to earn a specialized certificate in Finance by completing four courses (12 credit hours). Commonly offered courses include:

Insurance

Gain a solid understanding of the insurance industry by understanding risk and managing exposure. This certificate builds skills for professionals working in the local market or the broader industry.

International Business

In today’s fast-pace environment it is common to find working professionals traveling abroad representing their institutions in global affairs.  This certificate allows for those who want to broaden their horizon to delve deeper in functional areas, visit foreign countries or create a unique experience by mastering an international topic as an independent study.

Management

This is an ideal concentration for anyone with a desire to manage people and processes. Our Management certificate provides flexibility in selecting courses that emphasize general skills for enhancing the performance of people and organizations. Whether you are initially hired into a technical position with aspirations to advance, have been promoted into a higher position with management responsibility, or are considering management consulting at some point in your career, this concentration provides opportunities to enhance your individual skill sets in managing individuals, teams, and organizations.  In so doing you hone your expertise in leading an organization’s most important assets - its people.

Marketing

In today’s fast paced and ever-evolving marketplace, the knowledge and skills gained from an MBA certificate in Marketing can be used to help firms create value for customers. Both national and international aspects of developing, distributing, pricing and promoting brands, products and services are covered in the marketing concentration.  Analytic rigor is integrated with creative thinking to leverage effective use of website, social media, and other emerging marketing technologies.

Students who have a graduate business degree from an accredited institution can apply to attend the Barney School of Business to earn a specialized certificate in Marketing by completing four courses (12 credit hours). Commonly offered courses include:

 Program Management

With the increasing demand to combine different strategies and tools for implementing projects, there is great need for skilled project managers to improve the performance of their business or organization. A Project Management certificate is a viable and sought after program for both business and engineering graduate students. The concentration is multidisciplinary, creating a cross-functional learning environment similar to the business settings where projects are managed. Course content will be aligned with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) PMP (Project Management Professional) and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) certifications.  Students completing the concentration will qualify to take either the PMP or CAPM exam, depending on their prior project work experience, and will be encouraged to do so. Having PMI certification will signify that students have achieved a recognized standard of global best practices.

Students who have a graduate business degree from an accredited institution can apply to attend the Barney School of Business to earn a specialized certificate in Project Management. This certificate requires four courses (12 credit hours).  Students must have met the following prerequisite courses or equivalents before starting: QNT 601 - Managerial Statistics and Analytics  and MGT 607 - Managing Organizational Processes .

Required Courses

Students will attend these courses with MBA and CETA students.

Supply Chain Management

Supply Chain management has become an essential skill set for managing global enterprises involving the strategic flow of goods and services for meeting customers’ needs.   Robust supply chains allow businesses to deliver the most cost competitive and timely solutions to their customers by leveraging the capabilities of the multi-dimensional linkages in their supply chain. Many companies find that it is preferable to specialize in an area where they offer distinct advantages and to rely on supply chain partners and their specializations to create the best offer for the customer.  Supply chain management utilizes the methods of logistics and operations research to construct supply chains using holistic approaches that realize value at all nodes of the chain.  Supply chain activities involve producing products and delivering services, as well as distribution networks of wholesalers, distributors, retailers and end user. 

Students that have a graduate business degree from an accredited institution can apply to attend the Barney School of Business to earn a specialized certificate in Supply Chain Management.  The Barney School post-graduate certificate will require four courses (12 credit hours).  Students must have met the following prerequisite courses or equivalents before starting: QNT 601 - Managerial Statistics and Analytics  and  MGT 607 - Managing Organizational Processes .
