3Students who choose an essay as their senior project submit the title and outline of the essay to the department chair for approval. A faculty advisor will then be appointed.
The PRAXIS II test must be successfully completed prior to the student-teaching semester.
In the Junior Year Students may select to complete the year-long methods sequence in either Choral (MED 307 and MED 310W ) or General methods (MED 340 and MED 341W ). Students must take one methods course in the alternate sequence (i.e., if a student elects to take the choral methods sequence, he or she must take one general method course).
Students in this program may elect to audition for either a CPO or IPO in any given academic year. The selection of a large performing ensemble experience will be based on a successful audition, student interest, and in consultation with the student’s Music Education academic advisor. Students may not switch ensembles mid-year.
