General Education Requirements (A&S)
In addition to major requirements, students must meet the General Education Requirements that correlate to their degree.
Major GPA and Grade Requirements
Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in courses required to complete the major. All courses required for the major must be taken for a letter grade. Requirements
Thirty-six credits are required of all English majors. Literature Concentration
Students with a literature concentration are required to take Two historical surveys of literature, one from each of the following lists:
One course focused on English language, editing, or professional writing
Or any modern language at the 111-level or above (FR, GER, ITA, or SPA)
Four literature courses at the 300 or 400 level
A minimum of two of the four must be taken from the following pre-1800 literature courses:
Elective
A literature elective to reach a total of at least 36 credits (12 courses) to complete the major.
Creative Writing Concentration
Students with a creative writing concentration are required to take Two historical surveys of literature, one from each of the following lists:
Four writing workshops from the following:
One course focused on English language, editing, or professional writing
Or any modern language at the 111-level or above (FR, GER, ITA, or SPA)
Elective
