Applied Social Research Certificate


The certificate program in Applied Social Research is a 12-hour program of study designed to provide basic competence in applied social research. The special abilities achieved through this program will permit students to begin careers in public, nonprofit, and private organizations that engage in needs assessments, evaluation research, policy analysis, and research on human service delivery systems.

To be eligible for acceptance in the certificate program in applied social research a student must meet the following requirements:

  1. 6 hours of completed course work in the social sciences
  2. One course in research methods and one course in statistics (or special equivalent courses) with grades of B or higher, or permission of instructor
  3. Junior standing (or special permission)

Additional Information:


Upon successful completion of these course requirements with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, each student is awarded a certificate and letters to potential employers describing the nature of his/her experience and qualifications.
