Undergraduate Diploma


Program Information


The Undergraduate Diploma is a three-year non-baccalaureate degree program open to all instrumental and vocal performance majors, composers, and jazz studies students. Students completing this program may continue formal training at The Hartt School in any undergraduate degree programs or in the graduate professional degree program, if they desire. Students enrolled in the Undergraduate Diploma are not eligible for scholarship or financial aid.

International students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 for the written exam or 173 for the computer-based exam. Tuition for the program is based on the University’s three-fourths tuition rate, which includes programs of 9-11.5 credit hours per semester. Hartt performing arts scholarships are not available to diploma students.

US 150 First Year Success Seminar


All incoming new students will be registered for US 150 - First Year Success Seminar  during the first semester of the first year.  The credit earned for this course does not count toward the completion of the degree.

1 Total 24 credits; 18 credits for composition majors. Composition study is 3 credits per semester.

2 Enrollment dependent on placement examination.

3 Students whose principal instrument is keyboard, and those who are waived because of proficiency, must replace these credits with music electives approved by assigned advisor.

4 Total of 6 credits; a minimum 9 credits for composition majors.
