Subject-Area Major Options
Required Credits: 39 Candidates in the early childhood education, elementary education and the integrated elementary education/special education dual program must complete the required 18-credits of psychology courses as part of their subject-area. For the remaining 21-credits, candidates in the integrated elementary education/special education dual program must choose behavioral studies offered by the Education Department as their subject-area to fulfill the State of Connecticut subject-area requirement. Candidates in the early childhood education and elementary education programs must choose behavioral studies or any minor offered by the University of Hartford outside of the Education department to fulfill the remaining 21-credits required by the State of Connecticut subject-area requirement. Students choosing a subject-area in the College of Arts and Sciences must declare that minor, obtain a minor advisor in the appropriate department, and follow all requirements for that minor as set forth in the appropriate sections of this Catalog. Sociology, Politics and Government, and Communication Courses
Students must take at least one course from each category below with a total of 6-7 courses (18-21 credits), depending on the track/major being pursued. Note(s):
*Required for Early Childhood Education majors. **POL 110 is a prerequisite for many politics courses. |
