DPT 512 - Physical Therapy Examination and Intervention I Laboratory

This laboratory course utilizes a case study approach to enhance problem solving skills and provide integration of various patient examinations, goal setting, and intervention techniques within the scope of physical therapy practice. The roles and utilization of other health care practitioners and support personnel in patient management are also considered. The student achieves beginning competency in the following basic patient care techniques examination skills, exercise prescription, communication and documentation skills, wheelchair measurement and mobility, and patient safety. Manual muscle testing, goniometric measurement of joint range of motion is incorporated into laboratory exercises. Exploration of personal and professional ethics, values, and goals enhance the students’ ability to develop competence in these areas
