EC 410 - Applied Econometrics and Business Forecasting

This course presents students with the econometric techniques needed to empirically test economic theories, prepare forecasts, and to ask important questions about individual behavior and societal outcomes. An emphasis is placed on an application of these techniques using statistical software, basic “coding” and real-world data. The course will focus on practical applications of econometrics on specific economic questions and data. Specific topics include review of statistical techniques, descriptively exploring patterns in data, regression analysis with an emphasis on difference-indifference identification, time series analysis, Box-Jenkins (ARIMA) modeling, structural break analysis and identifying/analyzing co-integrated series.
Prerequisite(s): QNT 230  or M 260 .
