The new musical thought dating from 1950 to the present. Post-serialism, the extension of instrumental resources, evolution of notation, multimedia, improvisation, and indeterminacy. The views of selected contemporary thinkers and their reciprocal relation to the arts of this period. Three hours weekly.
Prerequisite(s): TH 211  or permission of instructor.
