Detailed study of the poetry and prose of such writers as Dryden, Behn, Pope, Swift, Johnson, Sterne, and Austen, with emphasis on the relations of these writers to the literary, social, political, and philosophical questions of their day.
Prerequisite(s): Junior standing or permission of instructor. Any 200-level literature course or permission of instructor.
