US 150 First Year Success Seminar
All incoming new students will be registered for US 150 - First Year Success Seminar during the first semester of the first year. The credit earned for this course does not count toward the completion of the degree.

- UISA - Artistic and Creative Expression 3 credit(s)
- UISS - Social Context and Change 3 credit(s)
- UIST - Natural, Scientific, Technological Exploration 3-4 credit(s) (Must be chosen from UIST 115 , UIST 120 , or UIST 140D . Students who take any other UIST course to meet this requirement must then ALSO take a 3-4 credits Science Elective.)
- UISC - Cultural and Historical Expression 3 credit(s) (Must be chosen from UISC 210 , UISC 211D , or UISC 212D to satisfy the CT State American History requirement.)
- Mathematics elective (M 116 recommended) 3 credit(s)
- Academic elective 3 credit(s)

Students in the program may elect to audition for either a CPO or IPO IN THE FOURTH YEAR. The selection of a large performing ensemble experience will be based on a successful audition, student interest, and in consultation with the student’s Music Education academic advisor. Students may not switch ensembles mid-year.
Students in the program are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.67; and can have no more than one C+ or lower in a music education or education course.
