SCL 230 - Contemporary Art Practices I


3 credit(s)
A studio course that emphasizes a multi-media practice. It is designed to expose students to the recent history of contemporary art, as well as to current trends in the art world. Students engage in performance, ephemerality, process, site-specific sculpture, installation, and video art. Emphasis is placed on dialogue and critical-thinking skills, and students are expected to use their technical skills developed in Foundations and Introduction to Sculpture. In addition to the studio workload, the course introduces important texts that have shaped contemporary thought.
Prerequisite(s): FWS 116 , FWS 117 , and SCL 220 .
