General Education Requirements (HCAS)
In addition to major requirements, students must meet the General Education Requirements that correlate to their degree. Major GPA and Grade Requirements
Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in courses required to complete the major. All courses required for the major must be taken for a letter grade. Requirements for the Major in Digital Media and Journalism
Core Courses
Each major must complete the following courses: And one Media Studies course from the following:

Choose one of the following: Elective Courses*
Majors select one area of emphasis: Digital Media Production, Journalism, Sports Communication. - 18 credits of elective coursework are required.
- Students take 12 credits in the selected emphasis area.
- Students must complete a minimum of 6 credits of courses at the 300 or 400 level in the selected emphasis to demonstrate some depth in the area.
- Up to 6 credits can be taken in the other emphases, additional Media Studies course(s), CMM 406 - CMM 407 - Internship Program , and/or a second Student Firms course.

Students who select this emphasis are required to take: And two courses from the following:

Note:
Students that seek to complete more than one area of emphasis are allowed to double count courses that are listed in more than one emphasis. (For instance, DMJ 324 - Video Editing for Broadcast Media would count for both the Sports Communication and Digital Media Production emphases.). However, students must still complete a minimum of four courses listed for each emphasis, including the required course for an emphasis. |
