RPW 320W - Medical Writing 3 credit(s) Writing Intensive Medical writing is one of the fastest-growing fields in the professional writing world. Whether working as an employee within an organization or as a freelancer, those who pursue medical writing often find it to be a lucrative field with an everincreasing range of opportunities. This course introduces students to a range of genres in medical writing, such as diagnostic charting, medical forms and reports, public health brochures, and government documents. Practical and theoretical issues that include ethics, cross-cultural communication, and digital versus print delivery are covered. Knowledge of science is not necessary to enroll in this course or even become a medical writer as long as students possess a willingness to engage with the issues presented. Prerequisite(s): RPW 215W and junior/senior standing, or permission of instructor. Laboratory fee.
